Hello potential and current Rotarians,
For those of you who are not currently Rotarians and are considering joining, please do. Rotary Clubs are a great way to give back to your community, your country, and your world. Plus, you have fun doing it! Find a local club and go visit a meeting. See for yourself.
If you are already a Rotarian but not in our club. Thank you for all you do.
Now, those of you reading this who are lucky enough to be in the Rotary Club of State College/Downtown, I am honored to be your President for 2022-2023. In the almost 3 years I have been a Rotarian, I have watched amazing leaders guide our club through the craziest years we have ever known. I have been so impressed with Stephanie’s, Brodie’s, and Ja Nae’s leadership. They kept our club strong and found ways for us to help our community when it would have been easy and understandable to give up. Kudos to you three.
I have simple goals for my year as President and hope not only the club but also our prospective new members can embrace them.
1. Grow our club membership. With our new Corporate and Family Memberships it is now very easy to be a Rotarian. We need to grow our club as every member increases our community impact exponentially. And that is why we are here and do what we do, to help. Tell your neighbor, bring a friend, heck even invite an enemy. The more we grow, the more we help.
2. Find a new large fundraiser. Our old Dining and Entertainment Book major fundraiser is a thing of the past. A relic of the before times when staffing and food supplies were bountiful. I don’t see those times returning anytime soon. In the past few years without this major fundraiser, our power to give was halved. We need a new way to bring money in so we can then direct it right back out to places in need where it will bring an impact larger than itself.
The theme of Rotary International this year is “Imagine Rotary.” I imagine a growing, fun, vibrant Rotary Club of State College/Downtown raising and distributing tons of cash and making our community and our world a better place than we find it here late in June of 2022.
Please, help me achieve that.
Thanks,
Don
